A US originated customer specializing in Radiation Therapy Systems sought to expand their business in China. To achieve this, they decided to localize the manufacturing of their entire system in China. One of the core components required extremely high precision welding and strict tolerance requirements.
Challenge
The core component for the Radiation Therapy System demanded very high precision welding and adherence to strict tolerance standards. Meeting these stringent requirements was crucial for the functionality and reliability of the final product. The process chain is irreversible, meaning any damage caused by mistakes during fabrication necessitates reworking the entire part.
Solution
CNIM Asia collaborated with a partnered research institute to develop a customized Electron Beam Welding (EBW) process tailored to the specific needs of this project. This innovative approach ensured the highest level of precision and control over the welding process.

This success marked a significant milestone in localizing the manufacturing process, enabling the customer to expand their operations in China with confidence.
